A 3 metre diameter meteorological / oceanographic buoy built by AXYS Environmental Technologies of Sidney, British Columbia. The buoy is located in the Bay of Fundy at the approaches to Saint John, NB Harbour in about 18 m. water depth. The buoy's purpose is to monitor and transmit in near real time meteorological and oceanographic data in support of operational efficiency, safety and situational awareness for marine transportation. The buoy also provides a continuous data feed in support of the Science and R&D community.The buoy is capable of measuring a variety of atmospheric and surface conditions including: wind speed and direction, air temperature, barometric pressure, water temperature, current speed and direction (0.5 m. depth), wave height, direction and period as well as wave spectral information. The buoy is also equipped with an Aids to Navigation Automatic Information System (AtoN AIS) allowing direct transmittal of the buoy data to a ship's bridge.

La bou\u00e9e est situ\u00e9e dans la baie de Fundy aux abords de Saint John, dans le port du N. -B., \u00e0 environ 18 m. de profondeur d'eau. L'objectif de la bou\u00e9e est de surveiller et de transmettre en temps quasi r\u00e9el les donn\u00e9es m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques et oc\u00e9anographiques \u00e0 l'appui de l'efficacit\u00e9 op\u00e9rationnelle, de la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 et de la connaissance de la situation pour le transport maritime. La bou\u00e9e fournit \u00e9galement un flux continu de donn\u00e9es \u00e0 l'appui de la communaut\u00e9 des sciences et de la R-D. La bou\u00e9e est capable de mesurer diverses conditions atmosph\u00e9riques et de surface, y compris la vitesse et la direction du vent, la temp\u00e9rature de l'air, la pression barom\u00e9trique, la temp\u00e9rature de l'eau, la vitesse et la direction du courant (0,5 m de profondeur), les vagues la hauteur, la direction et la p\u00e9riode ainsi que l'information spectrale des ondes. La bou\u00e9e est \u00e9galement munie d'un syst\u00e8me d'information automatique sur les aides \u00e0 la navigation (AIS ATON) qui permet la transmission directe des donn\u00e9es de la bou\u00e9e \u00e0 la passerelle d'un navire.
