A 3 m. diameter meteorological / oceanographic buoy built by AXYS Environmental Technologies of Sidney, British Columbia. The buoy is positioned at the mouth of Placentia Bay in water depth of about 230 m.The buoy is capable of measuring a variety of atmospheric and surface conditions: wind speed and direction, air temperature, humidity, dew point, barometric pressure, sea surface temperature, current speed, current direction, wave height, wave direction and wave period. The buoy is also equipped with an Aids to Navigation Information System (ATONiS) allowing direct transmittal of the buoy data to a ship's bridge.
Une bou\u00e9e m\u00e9t\u00e9orologique/oc\u00e9anographique de 3 m. de diam\u00e8tre construite par AXYS Environmental Technologies de Sidney, en Colombie-Britannique. La bou\u00e9e est positionn\u00e9e \u00e0 l'embouchure de la baie Placentia \u00e0 une profondeur d'eau d'environ 230 m. La bou\u00e9e est capable de mesurer diverses conditions atmosph\u00e9riques et de surface\u00a0: vitesse et direction du vent, temp\u00e9rature de l'air, humidit\u00e9, point de ros\u00e9e, pression barom\u00e9trique, temp\u00e9rature de la surface de la mer, vitesse du courant, direction du courant, vague la hauteur, la direction des vagues et la p\u00e9riode des vagues. La bou\u00e9e est \u00e9galement munie d'un syst\u00e8me d'information sur les aides \u00e0 la navigation (AtonIS) qui permet la transmission directe des donn\u00e9es de la bou\u00e9e \u00e0 la passerelle d'un navire.
